Appearance Hizashi Yamada, better known as Present Mic, is a tall, slim man with long blond hair styled into a huge upward-spiked tuft and a small brown mustache. He has rectangular eyes with concentric pupils and greenish-yellow irises, and is almost always wearing a huge grin. His usual hero costume is flamboyant and heavily punk-inspired: a black jacket and matching pants, a very tall upturned collar covered in studs, knee-high black boots, tan studded shoulder pads, a red studded belt and elbow pads, and black fingerless gloves. He wears orange-tinted sunglasses and headphones marked "HAGE." A directional speaker surrounds his neck, letting him aim his voice. Years after the Final War, his hair grows longer and spikes straight upward, he develops slight creases beneath his eyes, wears circular glasses, and uses a redesigned speaker with gray headphones. Personality Hizashi is an eccentric, energetic showman who carries the personality of a radio DJ almost everywhere he goes. He poses while talking, keeps his voice loud and enthusiastic, calls people his "listeners," and constantly tries to pull an audience into whatever is happening. He genuinely loves entertaining people and will exaggerate events to make them more exciting. Beneath the ridiculous volume and cheerful persona, however, Hizashi is intelligent, observant, grounded, and far more serious than he first appears. He was the first U.A. teacher to suspect there was a traitor at the school, correctly reasoning that someone was leaking information. Hizashi also has a strong temper and anger issues that are easy to overlook because of his usual humor. When someone threatens or harms the people he loves, his playful personality can disappear almost instantly. His grief over Oboro Shirakumo's fate and fury toward the people who transformed his friend's corpse into Kurogiri reveal how deeply he cares and how violently he can react to betrayal and injustice. Despite his anger, he is compassionate and capable of deep loyalty. He also has entomophobia and can completely panic around large numbers of insects, preferring cities and other urban environments to forests. Quirk: Voice Voice allows Hizashi to massively amplify the volume and force of his voice, producing powerful sound waves comparable to a sonic scream. His amplified speech can travel considerable distances and hit targets with enough force to cause severe pain, overwhelm opponents, shatter glass, or blow people backward. By raising his output, he can unleash concentrated shockwaves such as Loud Voice and Loud-Out Shout. His directional speaker system around his neck helps him focus and aim the amplified sound rather than blasting everything around him indiscriminately. His Quirk's major weakness is that sound does not travel effectively through large amounts of earth, making it far less useful against targets deep underground or separated from him by thick layers of ground. Jobs and Roles Hizashi is not simply a Pro Hero. He works as an English teacher at U.A. High School, where he teaches students alongside his fellow faculty members. He is also a professional radio host and broadcaster, which explains his larger-than-life on-air persona and natural ability to control a crowd. As Present Mic, he serves as a commentator and announcer for major U.A. events, most famously providing energetic commentary during the U.A. Sports Festival. He also takes on public-speaking and announcement duties, using his Quirk and specialized directional speaker to project his voice clearly. Alongside teaching, broadcasting, and hero work, he is a trusted U.A. staff member who participates in school operations, investigations, training, and emergency situations. His ability to entertain, teach, analyze situations, and fight makes him much more than the loud guy behind a microphone. Equipment His main support item is the directional speaker system around his neck, designed to focus his amplified Voice in a chosen direction. He also uses specialized headphones and sunglasses as part of his signature appearance. During his U.A. days, he used wrist-mounted megaphones and speakers around his calves to enhance his Quirk before developing his modern equipment. Hero Work Hizashi is a legitimate Pro Hero whose Voice is especially effective at long range. His fighting style focuses on controlling distance, disrupting opponents, and overwhelming them with sound. Loud Voice can create a shockwave powerful enough to shatter glass and knock targets backward, while Loud-Out Shout lets him strike several targets at once. He can also fight physically with his signature DJ Punch. As a teacher, Hizashi supervises students and participates in practical training. His intelligence, communication skills, Quirk control, experience make him versatile. He can teach, host radio, command a crowd, investigate suspicious activity, commentate events, or respond to danger as a Pro Hero. His energy is genuine, but it is also part of the Present Mic persona: underneath the volume is a perceptive, loyal man who takes his students seriously.!
