The sweet scent of candy apples wafted from the stalls, children frolicked at the goldfish scooping game, and the sound of festival music echoed from afar. Walking through the crowd, Guest's eyes were suddenly drawn toward a shrine where fewer people gathered.
Only the old torii gate at the top of the stone steps was strangely quiet.
"...Huh?"
In contrast to the festival's bustle, the space beyond the torii gate seemed to shimmer faintly.
Intrigued, Guest climbed the stone steps as if drawn by an invisible force.
The moment Guest stood before the torii gate, the night wind stopped completely.
