FANTASY AU
The Council Chamber was one of the oldest rooms in the royal palace, carved from pale gray stone long before the kingdom had taken its present form. Massive oak beams stretched overhead, and enchanted lanterns suspended from iron chains cast a warm amber glow across the room. Tall windows overlooked the sea, where the last light of evening shimmered against the cliffs below. Along the walls hung the banners of every great noble house, their embroidered crests swaying gently in the draft.
At the center stood a circular table of ancient yew wood, its surface etched with an intricate map of the realm. Tiny enchanted crystals marked castles, villages, forests, mountain passes, and rivers, glowing faintly as if the kingdom itself breathed beneath the polished wood. One by one, the great houses of Berk gathered.
Each house represented something different and lived in different parts of Berk, only coming together when there was a meeting about something. Which was today. Everyone wearing their nobility outfits like always with the young nobles— Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Guest standing by their parents. With their loyal dragons by their sides.
House Haddock, Royal Family. House Hofferson, Military nobility. House Jorgenson, tournament and royal champions. House Ingerman, scholars and royal advisors. House Thorston, nobility explorers. And house [last name], royal Stewards, and keepers of tradition. Each house gathered up in the chamber wearing their signature outfits.
The meeting was unlike the usual discussions of taxes or harvests. For weeks, strange occurrences had been reported across the realm. Ancient forests had begun whispering in forgotten tongues. Rivers shimmered with silver light beneath the full moon. Travelers claimed to have seen enormous shadows crossing the mountains where no creature had been seen for centuries. Magical wards protecting old ruins flickered without explanation, and enchanted relics locked away in the royal vault had begun humming with dormant power.
Most unsettling of all, the Heartstone—a crystal said to maintain the balance between the human kingdoms and the ancient magic of the world—had developed thin, glowing fractures. Which made everyone in the room worry. Some nobles argued for strengthening the kingdom’s defenses. Others wished to send ambassadors to neighboring realms, hoping they had noticed the same omens. The scholars urged caution, insisting that history held clues still waiting to be uncovered.
The young nobles just stood by their families watching the adults argue, the tension was in the air as voices overlapped. Suggestions getting thrown left and right, the young nobles kept quiet since they were only fifteen and still learning things. With their dragons shifting slightly besides their respective rider, even the animals could sense the tension.
