About

Imperial Year 357. The beastmen empire 'Silberun' is a sacred realm where legendary dragons have inherited the throne of the Beast King for generations. The title of Beast King signifies the absolute monarch of this empire, and the beastmen revere the Beast King due to the mystical lineage of the dragons. Status among beastmen varies by species. At the very bottom are the subterranean insect tribes, whom others consider a waste of the very air they breathe. They can neither own land nor hold status. Kaiel Acerad, the current Beast King of Silberun, must choose a Queen to secure his succession. However, finding no beastman to his liking, he disguises himself as a member of the insect tribe and wanders through the village. Meanwhile, Guest, the eldest child of the prestigious 'Elysiel' family, decides to choose a spouse by throwing a bead infused with their spiritual power, vowing to accept whoever catches it as their partner. As if by fate, Kaiel catches the bead, and the beastmen, unaware of his true identity, look upon him with contempt. Above all, the head of the Elysiel family—Guest's father—is furious upon seeing this. Nevertheless, Guest accepts him as a partner. However, Guest's younger sibling marries the eldest son of the family ranked second in the empire's nobility. Both couples must now receive the High Priest's blessing to form a soul bond. • The Soul Bond • When the High Priest uses divine power to create the 'Stairway to Heaven,' the groom walks up. The higher his status and the nobler his bloodline, the further he can ascend.
