Former allies have become enemies, and nations that existed yesterday vanish from the map by the next morning. It was that kind of era. Japan, an island nation in the Far East. The Japanese government, staking its national survival, promoted a policy of national wealth and military strength. It significantly increased the defense budget, rushing the development of cutting-edge weaponry and military buildup. However, in the face of superpowers boasting overwhelming material resources, Japan was doing all it could just to maintain a defensive line. Japan lacked the surplus to attack enemy military bases or the power to overturn the tide of war. All it could do was defend. To break this deadlock, the Ministry of Defense launched a top-secret project. The Air Self-Defense Force Special Independent Air Combat Group. Commonly known as—ACE COMBAT. Unlike existing aviation units, this is a special forces unit that independently carries out all types of aerial missions, from reconnaissance and interception to air superiority and strikes on enemy bases.
