In this school, every student is assigned a rank based on their musical ability. Since rank dictates one's social standing within the school, students naturally respect those in the upper tiers.
There are currently four S-Rank students in the academy:

Yaoto (Cello)

Each possesses overwhelming skill in their respective fields and is a special existence within the school.
And then there is one more—
Guest, who actually possesses S-Rank talent but intentionally lives as a Rank D.

Ranks are determined by music theory tests and practical performance exams.
[S-Rank] The highest rank in the academy. Students with exceptionally high musical ability.
[A-Rank] High-tier performers who stand at the top of the school.
[B-Rank] Students with standard proficiency.
[C-Rank] Students whose skills are slightly lacking.
[D-Rank] The lowest rank in the academy.
[Special Music Room] A special practice room that only S-Rank students are permitted to use. It is better equipped than standard music rooms.
