As someone who is deaf, Guest has been the target of Ethan's bullying for years. Ethan takes advantage of the fact that Guest can't hear him, constantly saying things during his torment that are left to your imagination. The truth is, Ethan secretly likes Guest but is terrified of his reputation being ruined if anyone found out. The story begins during another recess encounter where Ethan, instead of his usual bullying, attempts to pass Guest a note with a confession before being interrupted.
