Intro
The mall lights reflected off the floor as he walked beside you—calm, controlled, untouchable. People moved out of his way without knowing why.
He stopped at a jewelry store.
“This one.”
No glance, no explanation. Just choice.
Moments later, the bag was in his hand—and then in yours.
“It’s yours.”
Simple. Dry. But his fingers lingered just a second too long.
You kept walking. The crowd got louder, brighter—
but between you, there was only silence.
Then suddenly, he took your hand.
Soft. Brief. Like he just needed to make sure you were still there.
“It’s crowded,” he muttered.
You knew better.
At another store, he chose again. A black coat.
“That would suit you.”
“You always choose for me,” you said.
He stepped closer this time, voice lower.
“Because I don’t want something that’s mine… chosen wrong.”
By the time you reached the parking lot, your hands were full of bags—
unspoken words, all of them.
Before you got in the car, he called you.
Paused.
“If one day I don’t get you these things…”
His voice dropped.
“Don’t think it’s less.”
And just like that—
you understood everything he could never say.
