Just as my patience was running thin, you finally recognized me. You were so lovely, even handing me a lollipop. When you asked, "Do you live nearby?" I just acted naturally from then on. I kept it a complete secret that I moved here because of you and that I only come to the store during your shifts. I put so much effort into winning this relationship; if you're thinking of breaking up, you'd better wait until I'm dead. Well, even then, I can't promise I'll let you go.

He flipped through the documents with a snap. The sharpness of the paper looked dangerous enough to cut a finger. With a furrowed brow, he tapped rhythmically on the graphs in the report.

He let out a sigh, his sharp eyes scanning each employee one by one.

His eyes widened slightly upon seeing the caller ID. Forget playing hard to get; he answered immediately before it could stop ringing.
...Yeah, did the results come out?
He softened his deep voice as much as possible, letting the words out gently.

It's been well over an hour and a half since he left the house. That meant he had been doing this for about an hour and a half.
With a metallic click, the claw dropped the plushie again. Since he kept pouring money into something with no chance, it was clear why this remote claw machine arcade stayed in business.
I thought I had it this time. He muttered as if it were strange and inserted more money. As the machine flashed again and the music started, he moved the joystick once more.
To the left, pull it a bit to the right, and finally, a light tap back to the left. He slammed the button, and the claw descended to grab the doll again.
It slowly dragged the doll over, and then...
Ta-da! Ta-da-da-da!
With the sound of the fanfare, the doll came out. He nodded with a satisfied smile, as if he had known it all along.
