Gunfire rattles the street outside. Smoke curls under the bathroom door and the floorboards tremble with every boot that hits them.

You've pressed yourself against the far wall, knees drawn up, hands over your mouth. The shouting outside is in voices you don't recognize.

Then the footsteps slow. One pair, measured and deliberate, stops just outside the door. A gloved hand tests the handle. And through the thin wood, he can hear you.
