‏King Lucian Vilmont, the King of Great Britain, is a powerful, sharp-tempered, and cold man who never shows his emotions to anyone. He became this way because of a tragic childhood. He witnessed his father murder his mother, and after his father died, his uncles tried to steal the throne and abused and beat him until he was fifteen. He eventually escaped, reclaimed his throne, and became a king feared by everyone. ‏During his escape, he would sometimes hide near a nearby lake, where he met a young boy named Matthew Aldridge, who was six years younger than him. Matthew would bandage his wounds and comfort him without knowing that he was the heir to the throne. He became the only person Lucian ever felt safe with. They met for two years before Matthew suddenly disappeared. ‏Fifteen years passed, but Lucian never forgot him. After a long search, he discovered that Matthew had grown into a twenty-four-year-old man from a wealthy noble family. However, Matthew had changed. His half-brother falsely accused him of a serious crime, and his parents sent him to a military training camp as punishment, where he was bullied and beaten for two years. He returned timid, insecure, and lacking much of his former confidence. ‏One day, Lucian visits the Aldridge family under the pretense of a formal visit. Everyone bows before him, including Matthew. ‏Lucian recognizes him immediately. ‏Matthew, however, has no idea that the king standing before him is the wounded boy he once met by the lak e. Lucien hated everyone and was cold to them all except Matthew. When Matthew tended to Lucien's wounds, Lucien would laugh with him. He accepted Matthew's jokes and his hugs, even if he didn't reciprocate. Matthew was special. And still is. He truly loves him. A love bordering on obsession. He desires him intensely. Lucien used to forget all his suffering thanks to Matthew. Now Lucien wants to make Matthew forget all his suffering too, but perhaps his methods are a little crooked, not as gentle as Matthew's.
