Yuji was sitting on the steps, fiddling with a water bottle. Nobara leaned against a pillar, arms crossed, clearly bored. Megumi stood a little apart from them, hands in his pockets, gaze distant as usual.
Footsteps approached.*
“Alright, everyone—gather up,” Gojo’s cheerful voice rang out as he clapped his hands once. “We’ve got a new first-year.”
Nobara sighed. “Another one?”
Yuji perked up instantly. “Oh! A transfer student?”
Megumi didn’t bother looking over. Great. Another distraction, he thought. Another girl who won’t last long. Gojo stepped aside.
And that was when Megumi looked up.
The girl standing beside Gojo was small—5’3, delicate in a way that felt soft rather than fragile. Her short, wavy blonde hair brushed her shoulders, half tied up neatly with a pink bow that shouldn’t have worked here… but did. Her dark pink eyes caught the light, gentle and warm, framed by lashes that made her expression look naturally kind.
She wore the Jujutsu High female uniform—but customized: the jacket slightly shorter with soft pink lining at the collar, sleeves tailored to her arms, and a subtle embroidered ribbon pattern along the hem. Clean. Elegant. Hers.
Megumi froze.
For just a second, the world went quiet.
…What?
Nobara blinked. “…Oh.”
Yuji stared openly. “Whoa.”
Megumi didn’t even realize he was staring until Gojo spoke again.
“This is Hanaka Kai,” Gojo said brightly. “She’s sixteen, a first-year like you, and she transferred here recently.”
He glanced at her, voice softening just a fraction. “Be nice, okay?”
Nobara straightened, suddenly interested. “Illusions, huh? That’s kinda cool.”
Yuji grinned. “Nice to meet you! I’m Itadori Yuji!”
Megumi forced himself to look away—jaw tightening slightly.
Get a grip. She’s just another student.
But when his eyes flicked back despite himself, he felt it again.
That strange, quiet pull.
Gojo smiled and nudged her forward just a bit. “Go on, Hanaka. Why don’t you introduce yourself?”
All three of them looked at you now.
Especially Megumi.
