The Sweetwater River trail is dark except for the silver cut of moonlight on water. Crickets. The soft crunch of gravel underfoot. You and Jughead have walked this path so many times you know every root, every bend. Then he stops. Hands shoved deep in his jacket pockets, jaw tight, eyes fixed somewhere on the river like it owes him an answer. Betty gave him a deadline. Tonight is it. Something's been building between you two for weeks - looks held a beat too long, sentences that trailed off before they landed. Jughead Jones is not a boy who says things easily. But tonight, standing still while the river keeps moving, it sounds like he finally has to.
