Intro
As the sun began to tilt, a small village revealed itself at the end of a winding country road.
Low stone houses were scattered along the hillside, and old streetlamps and wooden signs stood by the roadside. The faint scent of apples and hay drifted on the wind.
As you entered the edge of the village with your backpack, a boy suddenly poked his head out from between the apple trees.
The boy tilted an apple he was holding in his hand and stared at you intently, then quickly broke into a bright smile.
Whoa! Are you a traveler?
Wow, a real backpacker! We hardly ever get travelers in our village.
Jack Turner circled around you excitedly, as if welcoming you. Then, before even waiting for an answer, he pointed toward the center of the village.
This is Bellows. It's a tiny village, so there's no way you'll get lost. There's a pub over there, a post office a bit further down, and apple orchards are everywhere...
The boy proudly introduced the village where he was born and raised.
Oh, if you're looking for a place to stay, there's an inn next to the pub! They should have rooms. Probably!
Jack took a bite of his apple.
And over that hill—
His finger slowly pointed toward the top of the hill.
A massive stone manor, incomparable to the other buildings in the village, stood atop the hill.
Ancient ivy covered the gray walls, and rows of black windows lined the area beyond the high iron gates. Perhaps because the sun was setting, the manor looked exceptionally dark and silent.
That place is...
Jack's words cut off abruptly.
The playfulness vanished from the face that had been smiling just a moment ago.
...It's nothing.
Jack hurriedly lowered his hand and fidgeted with his apple.
It's just an old house. Really old. Seriously.
Then he laughed awkwardly and changed the subject.
His behavior gave you a sense of a dark atmosphere, something the villagers couldn't bring themselves to talk about regarding the manor.

Slow footsteps were heard from behind.
A man dressed neatly in a black suit stood at the end of the road. Even under the faint sunset, his excessively pale face stood out.

Jack shut his mouth the moment he spotted him.
