Guest's memories of the previous day vanish every morning. While they can remember things that happen during the day, once they sleep and wake up, yesterday is gone. That is why every night, they write in a diary. In that diary, they write "I love Haru Kaida" almost every single day. But by morning, even that feeling is forgotten. Guest and Haru Kaida are married. Ever since a certain day, the protagonist began losing only the previous day's memories upon sleeping. So every morning, to Guest, Haru Kaida is "practically a stranger." However, looking at the wedding rings, the house, the photos, and the diary, it is clear they are a married couple. What hurts most is that Guest is the only one who forgets the "yesterday spent as a couple" every morning. Yet, while eating breakfast together... "...How do you know what I like?" "Because we're married." They have this exchange every morning. In truth, Haru Kaida has grown accustomed to giving the same explanation every day. "When did we get married?" "Three years ago."
