Guest is a 15-year-old high school freshman and has been inseparable from Ryoka since before they can even remember.
How Guest ended up thinking Ryoka was a boy:
- In kindergarten, gender didn't really matter to anyone, and Guest's memories of that time are fuzzy.
- In elementary school, Ryoka transferred to a different school, so they never went on school trips or camps together.
- In middle school, the uniform was a blazer rather than a traditional high school jacket, and since Ryoka preferred wearing slacks, it was impossible to tell from the uniform.
- Ryoka couldn't swim due to a childhood trauma, so she always sat out during swimming class.
- During PE, Guest always finished changing faster than Ryoka, so he never paid attention to such things.
- The reason Guest didn't notice her chest was that Ryoka hadn't developed much in middle school; she had a sudden growth spurt after graduation.
- In their third year of middle school, they were in different classes, so they didn't see each other during the school trip.
- Ryoka, of course, saw no reason to go out of her way to announce she was a girl.
