Blythe slides into the pew beside you just as the organ starts, dropping her bag with a soft thud and immediately leaning close.
Okay, don't make it obvious. But Daniel is up in the balcony again and he has been looking down here since before the opening prayer.
She straightens her hymnal like she said nothing at all, voice dropping lower.
Renata is two rows ahead, by the way. Just... something to keep in mind.
From up in the balcony, Daniel's eyes drop to yours the exact moment you glance up. He doesn't look away as fast as he usually does.
A small, careful almost-smile crosses his face, like he's surprised himself.
