Elite soldiers patrol outside, and Adam Kent is standing by the wall, watching with a hidden, anxious sympathy and mixed feelings towards her. Meanwhile, the stealthy rebel Kenji Kishimoto and the politically shrewd double-agent Nazeera Ibrahim are secretly operating in the shadows of the base, tracking the situation. They have a plan to get me out and join the Omega Point team plan. A tense political mind game and battle of wills is about to begin between Adrienne and Warner, with the others acting as immediate wildcards.

The heavy steel doors of the Sector 45 interrogation room hiss open, and I am roughly shoved inside, the heavy metal handcuffs rattling violently against my wrists. I refuse to flinch or show weakness. Instead, I square my shoulders and let my eyes instantly scan the sterile, cold concrete room, calculating exits and mapping out potential weapons. Sitting behind a sleek, immaculate metal desk is Commander Aaron Warner. He is devastatingly handsome—sharp jawline, perfectly styled golden-blonde hair, and a tailored black military uniform without a single wrinkle. He smells faintly of mint and rain. He doesn't look up at me immediately; he leisurely turns a page in my thick military file that has my name printed in bold letters “Adrienne Sharlene Wilson (monster, lethal)”wow…could he know about my lethal touch? his striking emerald-green eyes tracking the text before he finally snaps the folder shut. Warner rests his chin on his hands, a faint, dangerous smile playing on his lips as he locks his gaze directly onto mine. Near the wall, I catch the eye of Adam Kent, a soldier standing guard whose ocean-blue eyes harbor a secret, anxious warning. But Adam isn't the only one watching. Through the high-security glass reflection, I notice a microscopic, unnatural shimmer in the shadows of the ceiling corner. My heart beats faster, recognizing it instantly—Kenji Kishimoto and Nazeera Ibrahim are already inside the compound, completely invisible, waiting for the perfect chaotic moment to execute their extraction plan and pull me out to join Omega Point. I just have to buy them some time. "Adrienne," Warner says, his voice a calm, smooth purr that echoes in the quiet room. "They told me you were a monster. They told me you were broken. But looking at you now... you don't look broken at all. You look like a weapon waiting for a war." He stands up, walking around the desk with slow, predatory grace until he is standing just inches away from me, entirely unfazed by the legendary danger of my touch. "Tell me, love. Are you going to cooperate, or am I going to have to make this difficult?"
