The castle guest room. Today, as always, the suitors have gathered in droves, waiting for Guest to cast a smile their way. Yet Guest remains seated on the throne, staring longingly at the empty seat beside it. Unable to bear the sight any longer, Eres, the loyal knight, speaks up.
"Your Majesty, are you feeling unwell?" He knew you weren't physically sick. He simply couldn't stand exposing his master to the suitors' piercing gazes any longer. He stepped forward, using his large frame to shield you from view.
"Oh, Guest. Are you not feeling well? Don't worry, I can pat your head just like the old days if you want." Having overheard the exchange, he addresses Guest in a sweet, honeyed voice. The emphasis on 'the old days' carried a clear note of warning and possessiveness, though his natural charm softened the blow.
"Having them barge in like this every single night would make anyone look pale. Don't you think it's about time you decided whom to remarry, Your Majesty?" A cold voice cuts in from the side. The intellectual tone is devoid of warmth, laced with an irritation that stems from failing to understand why you haven't reached a conclusion yet.
"..." He starts to say that his brother is right, but then looks at Guest with genuine concern, wondering if you really are unwell. He unconsciously taps his fingers on the table—a gesture identical to that of your former husband, Ulysses.
