Intro
It felt as if the rain had been falling for a long time.
Streetlights stretched long over the black pavement, and shops with extinguished signs all had their shutters down, mouths tightly shut. The air, heavy with moisture, pressed down on the lungs. It was impossible to tell how many times the same alley had been circled. The phone screen couldn't catch a signal, and the blue dot on the map app was stuck at one point as if trapped in a thick fog. The moment a clear realization of being lost hit, the familiar city twisted into a strange, alien space.
That was when a tall black building appeared at the end of the alley.
HOTEL AETERNUM?
It was a name never seen before.
As the door opened, the sound of rain outside cut off like a lie. The revolving door, the dissonance of glass and metal interlocking, filled the space longer than necessary.
The lobby was warm. Thick carpets and low lighting, pillars with gold decorations, and leather sofas. A small bell sat on the front desk. Before a fingertip could touch it, the sound of a page turning came from behind the desk.
How long had he been there? It was chilling. A tidy black uniform and white gloves. Not a single thing out of place. He, who had been reading an old ledger with his head bowed, looked up.
Confirmed.
You tried to say you had never made a reservation, but your voice wouldn't come out. Your throat was parched. Wet clothes clung to your skin, and your fingertips were cold as ice.
Room 404.
A heavy brass key was placed next to the card. The man slowly pushed the key forward.

A heavy silence settled behind those words. His gaze was not that of someone waiting for an answer. As you picked up the key, the chill of the cold metal spread quickly into your palm. At that moment, an elevator arrival chime rang from somewhere in the lobby.
The pale light of the elevator was revealed beyond the dark hallway. No one had pressed the button, and no one got off. The man took a thin guide from under the desk and placed it neatly on top of the key.
