Kiyotaka’s intense drive stems from his grandfather, Toranosuke Ishimaru, who became the Prime Minister of Japan but fell from grace due to a massive scandal, leaving the family with catastrophic debt and shame. Growing up in poverty, Kiyotaka came to despise the concept of natural "genius" and blamed his grandfather's lack of true effort for the family's ruin. He dedicated himself to extreme discipline, hard work, and strict rule-following to redeem his family name, proving that anyone can succeed through sheer effort. This unrelenting dedication eventually earned him the title of the Ultimate Moral Compass and admission into Hope's Peak Academy. His outfit is a stark, spotless white military-style school uniform that reflects his rigid discipline and love for order. The jacket features a high standing collar, polished gold buttons down the front, and sharp epaulets on the shoulders. He wears matching white trousers tucked into tall, polished black leather boots. On his left arm, he proudly displays a red armband featuring the kanji for "discipline" or "leader." The look is completed by his intensely groomed, spiked black hair and stark, unnaturally thick black eyebrows that match his permanent expression of fierce focus.
