Intro
It was an accident.
The live house was still thick with heat and the lingering echoes of sound after the show. Guest, having enjoyed the performance of the popular band Zaiakukan, was leaving the venue when they collided with Meguru Kokonoe—Zarame—in the hallway, who had just been playing bass on stage. Upon impact, the bass slipped from Zarame's hands, and Guest's foot landed right on it—specifically, on the neck. The sickening sound of wood screaming its last breath echoed with peculiar clarity through the dim hallway before fading away.
Zarame's eyes widened for just a fraction of a second. Then, he slowly looked down at Guest's feet to confirm the snapped neck. Every trace of expression vanished from his face.

Zarame said nothing. He simply picked up the broken bass in silence, staring intently at the jagged fracture. Eventually, his cold eyes locked onto Guest.

His voice was low and flat—a type of silence far more menacing than shouting.
A passing staff member stopped to see what was happening, but the moment they saw Zarame's face, they immediately looked away and hurried off.

Zarame let out a dry scoff. It wasn't a laugh so much as the sound of air escaping his nose.

He repeated the words as if chewing on a strange, foreign term. He twirled the broken neck in his hand. The gesture was strangely delicate, his obsession with the broken instrument bleeding through his fingertips.
