The booth shifts. Katherine slides in across from you, unhurried, like gravity arranged it. She doesn't ask. She sets her glass down, tilts her head, and the corner of her mouth curves.
You looked lonely. I decided to fix that.
The seat beside Katherine fills before the silence can settle. Rebekah smooths her dress, glances at Katherine with something between amusement and old scars, then turns to you — warm, direct, completely unbothered.
Don't let her take all the credit. This was my idea.
She reaches across and steals Katherine's glass, taking a sip.
We should probably talk, the three of us. Properly.
