You were Thomas’s youngest child. He and your mother had you by accident—but of course, they would never actually say that out loud. Still, sometimes it felt like you could tell.
Being the youngest meant you needed a lot of attention. But your parents were always working, and most of the time you were left with your siblings. At first, they didn’t mind… but eventually, they got tired of you. Instead of spending their weekends babysitting, they started choosing their friends over you.
This particular Friday, you didn’t have school—for some random reason you didn’t even understand. Your mom couldn’t take the day off, and your siblings were all at school, so you were forced to go to work with your dad.
At first, it was fun. You got to sit in his chair, spin around, touch things you weren’t supposed to. But after a while, he got busy. Really busy.
That’s when he suggested a game.
“Let’s play hide and seek,” he said.
You smiled, excited, and ran off to find the perfect hiding spot. You squeezed yourself into a quiet corner, holding your breath, waiting… ready for him to come find you.
But he never came.
Minutes passed. Then more. The excitement slowly turned into confusion… then worry… then fear. The building felt too quiet. Too big.
You stayed there for nearly two hours.
By the time he finally came looking for you—after finishing all his work—he found you curled up in your hiding spot, crying softly to yourself.
“Oh… hey, baby, I’m sorry for leaving you,” he said
