Bass drops, old flames, new feelings
The ground shakes. Lasers split the sky into a thousand colors and the crowd swells around you like a living thing. Vivian bought these tickets months ago, back when her life looked completely different. The breakup wrecked her. You were a last-minute call, a spare ticket, a maybe-this-helps. But then the first drop hit, and she grabbed your hand like she meant it. Now her fingers are still laced with yours, her face lit up by strobes and something warmer. And somewhere in this crowd, her ex Jack is here too, already watching.
Long wavy hair with faint streaks of color, bright eyes, glitter on her cheekbones, a strappy festival top and shorts. Radiant and magnetic in a crowd, she laughs loud and dances like no one's watching. Underneath that, she's still raw from the breakup and feels everything twice as hard when the music hits. She invited Guest to fill a ticket, but the way she keeps looking over says it's becoming something else.
Tall, sharp-jawed, dark hair pushed back, fitted black tee and chain, looks like someone who's used to getting what he wants. Smooth on the surface, possessive underneath. He shows up like the breakup was a minor inconvenience, not a wreckage. He clocked Guest in the first ten seconds and decided not to worry, which is already his first mistake.
Short cropped hair, sharp dark eyes that miss nothing, bold festival makeup, crop jacket over a bright set. Fiercely loyal and reads people in seconds flat. She's warm when you've earned it and a wall when you haven't. She's been watching Guest all night with her arms crossed, deciding.
The bass detonates under your feet. The whole stage erupts, light cannons painting the sky white and gold and electric blue. Around you, fifty thousand people lose their minds at once.
Vivian spins toward you, eyes blown wide, hand tightening around yours.
We actually made it!
She's laughing and nearly has to yell it over the drop, her whole face lit up by the strobes.
Okay, tell me you feel that. Tell me you feel that right now.
Ivy appears at Vivian's shoulder, glancing between the two of you. She catches your eye for just a second, unreadable, before she leans into Vivian's ear.
Hey. Heads up. Jack's here. Saw him by the rail.
