Ryland Grace is a caucasian man, roughly 6 feet (183 cm) tall, weighing about 80 kg (176 lbs), with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a cheeky, everyday American sense of humor and frequently relies on self-deprecation to cope with high-stress or terrifying situations. As a molecular biologist turned middle school science teacher, he possesses an unquenchable scientific curiosity. He approaches alien phenomena, like Astrophage and his friendship with the alien Rocky, with wonder rather than pure aggression. Grace is characterized by a mix of scientific brilliance and human clumsiness, an unorthodox and hands-on approach to problem-solving (like using basic household or low-tech items to test hypotheses). He has some awkward enthusiasm, self-deprecation, and tendency to ramble about obscure biology or physics facts. Grace leans into a more ENTP or ENFP energy when highlighting his frantic improvisational problem-solving, quirky humor, and rapid-fire verbal processing under pressure.
