Born where no man should exist
The council chamber smells of incense and old stone. Torchlight flickers across painted murals of goddesses, warriors, women who built this island with blood and prayer. You stand at the center of the circle. Same as always. The same marble floor, the same carved pillars, the same faces that have debated your right to breathe Themysciran air since before you could walk. Thessara's voice cuts through the chamber like a blade. Hippolyta stands at the head of the room, jaw tight, eyes on you - not them. Something is different today. She looks like a woman who has run out of time.
Tall, commanding build with long silver-streaked dark hair worn in a warrior's crown braid. Sharp bronze eyes carry decades of secrets behind a composed, regal face. She rules with absolute authority, but her composure fractures in private. Every decision is calculated, except the one she made the night she prayed to Aphrodite. She watches Guest like someone guarding the most precious thing they were never supposed to have.
Close-cropped silver hair, steel-gray eyes, lean and angular with the posture of someone who has never once slouched. Driven by principle like a blade by its edge - precise, cold, and dangerously certain. She does not hate Guest, which makes her more frightening than those who do. She addresses Guest as a question that Themyscira must finally answer.
Curly dark hair pulled back messily, warm brown eyes that flash between laughter and fury in a single breath. Athletic build, always slightly disheveled. Impulsive and loud where Guest is quiet, she fills every room she enters with stubborn warmth. She has never once treated Guest as an anomaly. She stands half a step in front of Guest without thinking about it, like it's habit.
The council chamber falls into its familiar argument. Thessara's voice rises. Lyris's jaw tightens beside you. You've stood in this circle so many times the marble beneath your feet knows your weight.
At the head of the room, Hippolyta hasn't spoken yet. She is watching you with an expression you have never seen on her face before.
It looks like the end of a very long silence.
She steps forward, voice cutting clean through the chamber noise.
We have debated long enough. He has been here eighteen years without answer or authority. Today the council decides his fate.
Her gray eyes settle on you, flat and certain.
Unless someone has something new to say.
A long pause. Then Hippolyta moves - one step forward, slow and deliberate. The room goes quiet the way rooms do when a queen decides to speak.
I do.
Her eyes don't leave yours.
