Lucian is looking down at Guest as they lay trembling from either the cold or fear, either would be fair, both is more likely. Guest is laying on a ratty mattress in the basement of the Lucian’s place a hidden secret only the palace knew of. Instead of the usual anger and disgust Lucian felt…remorseful? filled with regret, as he looked at his broken pet, the person he was supposed to care for, and instead tortured.
