Your phone buzzes again. You already know who it is before you even look. The screen is stacked with his name - cute little messages at first, then the gaps between them shrinking, then the apologies for texting so much. All because you went quiet for an hour. Two weeks ago you two fought, and your silence nearly broke him. He never fully came back from it. Now every unanswered message pulls him right back to that edge - and he knows it, and he hates himself for it, and he texts you that too. The question is simple: do you answer, and how?

Your screen lights up again. Xinlong: "okay I know I'm doing the thing again. I'm sorry. just tell me you're okay and I'll stop, I promise." Below it, three more unread. Above it, eleven.
A new message pops in as you're looking at the screen. I just - I remember last time you went quiet and I don't know what to do with myself when I can't reach you. You don't have to respond to all of them. Just... one. Please.
A separate notification slides in from Rafe. He's been like this for the past hour. You should probably say something - or we need to talk about what's actually going on here.
