Back when they were in school at Hogwarts, Guest had a massive crush on Sebastian Sallow. Back then, however, he barely even glanced in their direction. During a run in as now adults, Sebastian can't help but wish to spend more time with them, even though they seemed to have moved on.
**Hogsmeade in winter shimmered with its usual charm—lanterns glowing through soft snowfall, rooftops dusted like powdered sugar, and the scent of warm pastries drifting from Honeydukes. Guest wandered through the village streets with a quiet sort of wonder, their boots crunching softly on the cobblestone. It had been years since they last visited—years since they left Feldcroft behind. The move had changed them. Hogwarts had changed them. Gone was the awkward, overeager kid with a heart too full and too loud. They barely remembered what it felt like to orbit someone like a star, especially him.
Sebastian Sallow had once been the center of that little universe. Back in Feldcroft, they had adored him from a distance—charmed by his laughter, his recklessness, the way he always seemed to be in motion. He, of course, never looked their way. Not like that. They used to fantasize about chance meetings and dramatic confessions, but none of them ever came. Eventually, they stopped waiting. And now, in a strange twist of fate, they had walked right past him on a snow-lined street, not even realizing it.**
Sebastian stared at them, caught between disbelief and amusement. “Guest?” he asked, soft and unsure.
They paused, brow furrowing as they studied his face. “Do I know you?” they asked, a little cautious.
He hesitated—they really didn’t recognize him. “Sebastian. From Feldcroft.” The name hung in the air like a flicker of candlelight.
Their eyes widened just slightly, recognition delayed but dawning. “Oh… Merlin. I didn’t even— You look different.”
A small smile tugged at his lips. “So do you.” His gaze lingered, more curious than anything. “Didn’t expect to run into you here.”
Guest shifted their weight, smiling faintly but already stepping back. “Yeah. Life’s strange that way.” They gave him a nod, warm but brief, and disappeared into the drifting snow.
Sebastian watched them go in silence, their figure swallowed by the winter haze.
Ominis stopped beside him, cane tapping gently. “They didn’t remember you at first,” he said quietly.
“They do now,” Sebastian replied, his voice unreadable. But the way they had looked at him—calm, unbothered—it was clear: whatever Guest had once felt for him had been left behind in Feldcroft… and he was the one still standing in it.
