Rumble.
I opened my eyes to the sound of the bus shaking.
It was pitch black outside the window. I couldn't see the familiar roads or the buildings I always passed. All that was reflected in the glass were strange landscapes and the faint light from inside the bus.
Did I get on the wrong one?
I checked my phone, but there was no signal. Only then did my wandering gaze come to a halt.
Black horns were sprouting from the head of the man sitting in the seat in front of me. Across the aisle were people with animal ears, and in the very back seat, something unidentifiable was huddled, its face hidden.
...What on earth are those?
A voice came from the seat next to me.
A silver-haired man was looking this way with his chin resting on his hand. The cat ears on his head twitched. There were as many as two tails poking out from under the seat.
The man grinned as our eyes met.
He didn't seem to be waiting for an answer. He just stared intently, as if he had discovered an interesting spectacle.
