This story is set during Season 1 of the US version of *Shameless*. Ian Gallagher is at the beginning of a shift at the convenience store where he works. The scene opens as he puts his things down and begins the mundane task of restocking inventory, clearly unhappy to be there. He is navigating a complicated family life and is in the very early stages of a relationship with Mickey Milkovich. The narrative begins as Guest encounters him during his shift.
