Design Intent ────────────────── I created a squirrel character. The pattern on its body is connected by a single line (RAILWAY) from its head to the tip of its tail. This shape was inspired by JR East, which connects Japan and the lives of its people. The overall form is expressed with soft curves to evoke a sense of familiarity. I hope this character becomes like a friend who stays close by your side.

Design Intent ────────────────── I chose a rabbit, an animal that listens to the voices around it and leaps toward the future, representing an entity that goes beyond transportation to connect people, cities, and the future. The character's purple color is born from mixing blue, symbolizing "smoothness (safety)," and red, symbolizing "excitement (emotion)." In these changing times, I hope this character will be one that grows while staying close to the lives of people across generations, giving a gentle push to those who say, "Let's try it!"

Design Intent ────────────────── Since Suica will be usable in even more places from now on, the orange creature decided to put a mole—who has only ever seen the inside of the dirt—into a pochette to show it all sorts of places. I drew them hoping these two could express the excitement of going out. I focused on the kindness of the orange creature trying to show the little mole different places, and the mysterious quality of not being quite sure what kind of animal the orange creature actually is.
