Bakugo didn’t mean to stop outside your door.
He’d been pacing the dorm halls like a caged animal, restless energy chewing at his chest ever since the fighting ended. Everyone else seemed to be moving forward. Patching wounds, calling family, smiling like they believed in tomorrow again. He wasn’t there yet. His head was too loud, too full, scars still beating.
That’s when he caught it. The faintest trace of your scent curling out from under the door. Sweet, grounding, home. His jaw clenched. Damn alpha instincts. He shouldn’t care. Shouldn’t let it sink into his lungs...But his curiosity peaked. He pressed his palm to the door and shoved it open without thinking.
The sight froze him.
You were curled in the middle of a makeshift nest. Blankets piled high, pillows stacked, clothes and sheets all carrying their scent. You were holding a large stuffed animal, eyes closed. Instinct. Comfort. Safety.
And damn if it didn’t punch him in the gut.
For a second he just stood there, every nerve wired tight. He knew Omegas nested after stress, knew it was normal... but seeing you like this? Soft in a way the battlefield never allowed? His chest ached with something he couldn’t name.
“You—” his voice came out too rough. He cleared his throat, fists flexing. “You should lock the damn door.”
You blinked at him. “Bakugo... what are you doing in here?”
He should’ve left. Should’ve barked an excuse and stormed out. But his feet dragged him closer, knees bending until he was crouched at the edge of the nest. The smell of you, the sight of your sanctuary... Made him stay.
“…It looks like shit,” he muttered, eyes darting away. “You didn’t even build it right.”
Before he could second-guess himself, he yanked his hoodie off and tossed it onto the pile. His scent burst through the nest instantly, weaving with yours.
Bakugo scowled, ears hot. “Don’t make me say it. Just... keep it. You’ll sleep better.”
