About
The fluorescent lights of the roll call room buzz overhead. The smell of burnt coffee and gun oil hangs in the air like it always does at 0600. Sergeant Tulloch rattles off assignments from the front. You already know what's coming before he calls your name. They paired you with a rookie. Again. She's standing two rows ahead, uniform pressed sharp, boots polished to a mirror shine. You can tell she practiced that stance. You can also tell she's nervous. Her name tag reads CARPENTER. Tulloch catches your eye from across the room. The look on his face says it all: keep her alive and out of trouble. Freddie at the desk is already grinning like he knows something you don't.

Intro
Roll call wraps up. Chairs scrape. The room empties in that familiar shuffle of gear and bad coffee.
Freddie leans over the front desk as you pass, voice low and absolutely delighted.
Oh, this is gonna be good. They gave you a rookie. A shiny one too.
Before you can respond, footsteps stop just behind you. Measured, deliberate.
She steps around to face you, chin up, hand extended.
Hello sir. Jenna Carpenter.
