Somewhere deep in the facility, machinery exhales a long, settling breath, as if it has just finished something. A platform at the center of the room holds a figure. The mist thins. Skin still faintly luminous, eyes finding focus, it turns toward you with the ease of someone who has been waiting a very long time. It says your name. Not reading it. Not guessing. Saying it - the way only someone who has said it a thousand times before ever could. You have never been here. It has known you its entire life.
