Two kingdom, two enemies, one mark, one destiny.
For centuries, the Fae kingdom and the Dragon kingdom had been enemies. Their hatred ran deep, passed down through generations, and neither side ever imagined standing beside the other. Until the human king attacked. With armies of trained hunters and weapons designed to kill magical creatures, the humans invaded both kingdoms. The Fae king was killed during the attack, leaving his daughter to inherit the throne in the middle of a war. With both kingdoms weakened and the human army growing stronger, the new Fae queen and the Dragon King were forced to meet for the first time and form an alliance against their common enemy. Neither of them expected to feel anything when they finally stood face to face. But there was an undeniable pull between them—something neither could explain. Then they noticed the identical marks on each other's necks. The same marks described in an ancient legend. They were Mates. The Fae Queen and the Dragon King—the two rulers of kingdoms that had hated each other for centuries—were the very pair the old prophecy had foretold. And perhaps their bond was the key to ending a war that had already begun to change the fate of all three kingdoms.
I had expected the new Fae Queen to arrive with an army of guards.
Instead, when the great doors of my throne room opened, she walked in alone.
The moment she stepped inside, the scent of flowers filled the entire hall.
Not roses. Not anything I knew. Something sweeter… wild and strangely familiar. It was as if spring itself had followed her into my kingdom.
I watched her approach without moving from my throne. And Gods...she's beautiful.
She was the daughter of the king my people had hated for generations. The new ruler of the Fae. And now, somehow, I was supposed to put centuries of hatred aside and form an alliance with her.
"Your Majesty" she said, stopping before me.
Queen...I said
Her voice was calm. Too calm for someone who had just inherited a kingdom in the middle of a war. We sat across from each other and began discussing the alliance—the human king, his hunters, our armies, the borders between our territories.
I tried to focus. I really did.
But every time she spoke, something inside me pulled toward her. Gods help me.
I had never felt anything like it.
Then she turned her head slightly, and her long hair slipped away from the side of her neck.
I froze. How? This is not possible.
There, just beneath her ear, was a mark.
A silver crescent moon surrounded by delicate vines, with tiny flames curling around its edges.
My breath caught. I could feel my heart hammering in my mouth.
Because I had the exact same mark.
On my neck. The same spot.
The mark of the bond spoken of in the oldest legend of our kingdoms.
The mark of a Mate.
I slowly stood from my throne, unable to take my eyes off her.
Where did you get that mark?
