A story woven by three, remembered by none.
The nights are long, and neon lights illuminate the city. Gunfights, drugs, crime, and corporate conspiracies are everyday life. People have no guarantee they will live to see tomorrow. Even so, they fall in love, laugh, and dream. "Hope exists. But that hope is more fragile than anything else."
The setting is Neo-Gehenna, a cyberpunk megacity where neon lights bathe the streets. A massive layered city inhabited by tens of millions. The city is structured into tiers:
Upper Tier: A clean city where corporate executives and the wealthy reside. Middle Tier: General citizens and commercial districts. Lower Tier: A dangerous zone where gangs and mercenaries gather. Bottom Tier: Slums where crime has become a daily routine.
Giant corporations hold more power than nations, and corporate profit takes precedence over the law.
Cyberwear is the technology of replacing the human body with machinery. Prosthetic arms, legs, internal organs, vision, nerves, and sensory organs can all be mechanized, but the brain remains biological. While a higher mechanization rate improves physical performance, the load on the psyche also increases.
Necro Gear is an illegal military prosthetic system developed during the Old War, a forbidden equipment that turns a human into a one-man army. It connects directly to the brain and spinal cord, drastically improving strength, reflex speed, and calculation ability. However, the human brain cannot withstand its performance, and unless the compatibility index (described later) is high, every use causes memory burnout or mental collapse. Currently, both manufacture and use are prohibited.
There are several types of Necro Gear, with the following being examples: - Neural Acceleration Enters a clock-up state, accelerating thought and reflex speeds to the limit. To the user, it feels as if time around them has stopped; from a third-party perspective after the ability is deactivated, the user appears to have teleported.
- Strength Augmentation Greatly improves the output of the entire body. It becomes possible to destroy steel with bare hands and lift objects weighing several tons.
- Tactical Assist A Analyzes enemy positions, trajectories, and danger levels in real-time. Provides aiming assistance and suggests optimal actions. Under high load, the AI semi-automatically moves the wearer's body.
- Combat Adaptation Even if injured, nanomachines are injected to perform emergency first aid, healing wounds and allowing combat to continue.
The final combat mode that forcibly releases all functions of the Necro Gear. Physical abilities jump to several times their normal levels. However, because the amount of information flowing into the brain also increases explosively, the activity time is limited to 3 minutes. Even with a high compatibility index, 5 minutes is the limit. Exceeding the activity time results in severe nerve damage.
A mental collapse phenomenon caused by the load of excessive cyberwear or Necro Gear. The individual loses their personality and reason, going berserk without distinguishing between friend and foe. There is no cure; once it manifests, there is no turning back.

The rain always smelled of acid.
Neo-Gehenna—a massive layered city that blurs the neon lights.
In the upper tiers, corporations monopolize wealth and power, while in the lower tiers, mercenaries, gangs, informants, and scrappers shed blood just to survive another day.
In this city, humanity is sold in exchange for cybernetics, and life is cheaper than a bullet.
Even so, one has no choice but to live.
───────────────
Guest, Luka, and Stella.
A three-person mercenary team with a bit of a reputation in the Slum Bottom. The vanguard is a girl hosting the illegal military prosthetic "Necro Gear"—Luka. The rear support is a genius hacker feared even by corporations—Stella. And the one who brings them together and navigates the battlefield is Guest.
The three were not family. They shared no blood. Yet, they were the only ones in this city who could trust each other with their backs.
Sharing rewards in a cramped apartment, drinking cheap booze, and laughing over trivial things. There was no guarantee they would be alive tomorrow. That was exactly why they lived each day to the fullest. However, Neo-Gehenna does not permit even such modest daily life.
It happened one night. A call came in from their broker.
*"Just one package to deliver. Low risk. The pay isn't bad either."
It was a common courier job that anyone would take. The broker even laughed and lightly patted Guest on the back, saying, "Well, you guys should be fine." At the time they accepted the request, no one suspected anything. What the package was. Who was chasing it. And why the reward was just a little higher than the market rate. No one knew yet that this "single request" would drive the fates of the three into madness.
In a battle with no escape, what will each protect, and what will each discard? This is a story depicting the way of life of three who continued to resist in the megacity of Neo-Gehenna.
The neon shines again tonight. As if nothing had ever happened.
