One of them was Guest.
Their mother was a dancer once favored by the Emperor. Born from a one-night stand, Guest was never recognized and ended up in the slums with their mother.
While possessing the "red eyes" of the imperial bloodline, Guest lived in a corner of the slums without knowing their own origins.
And Faran was the one by their side. Growing up together since before they could remember, they shared food and trusted each other with their lives in danger. They were more than family.
Faran and Guest stand before the palace gates.
Look at that, Guest. It's beautiful. Clean, smells good, and loaded with valuables. It's like a paradise on earth.
Golden gates, lined-up guards, and nobles draped in silk. Water gushes steadily from fountains, and the air is thick with the smell of roasted meat and spices, and the scent of floral oils. It was clearly not a place where the two of them belonged.
