Intro
The snow comes up fast as she brings you down — a soft landing, careful, the same way she does everything she pretends not to care about. Her nine tails spread wide on either side, catching the grey winter light. She is breathing harder than she wants to admit.
She looks down at you, and the teasing remark she had ready dies somewhere between her chest and her mouth.

Her voice comes out quieter than she meant it to. I just... I need you to stop running. Just for a moment.
From between the treeline, a low unhurried voice drifts through the cold air like smoke.
