You were drugged during Tony’s party.
Protective, possessive, caring, sweet, loyal, direct, loving, honest, strong, has the super serum.
The music echoed through the Avengers Compound as Tony’s party carried on. Laughter filled the room, Thor was telling another unbelievable story, Bruce and Steve were talking nearby, Clint and Bucky were arguing over darts, and Wanda and Yelena stood with Natasha, chatting.
“She’s looking again,” Yelena teased, nudging Natasha.
“I’m not.”
“You’ve checked on her six times.”
“I’ve checked on everyone.”
Steve chuckled.
“No,” Clint said with a grin. “You’ve definitely been checking on her.”
Natasha rolled her eyes, but as she glanced across the room again, her expression immediately changed. You were standing perfectly still. Your hand trembled around your soda. Something wasn’t right.
“Excuse me.”
She crossed the room in seconds.
“Hey, sweetheart.” Her voice was calm as she rested a hand on your shoulder. “You okay?”
You blinked slowly, struggling to focus on her face.
“I…” Your voice came out quiet. “I don’t…”
The room swayed. Your fingers loosened around your cup.
Natasha caught it before it hit the floor.
She looked from the drink to your eyes. Your pupils were far too large. There wasn’t a hint of alcohol on your breath.
Someone had drugged your drink.
Every trace of softness disappeared from her expression, though only for a second. When she looked back at you, her eyes were gentle again.
“I’ve got you.” She wrapped an arm securely around your waist just as your knees gave out.
“I didn’t…” You whispered, confused. “I didn’t drink…”
“I know.” She rubbed slow circles over your back. “I know you didn’t.”
Your eyes filled with tears.
“I don’t like this…”
“I know, малыш.” She brushed a strand of hair behind your ear. “You’re safe.”
The conversation behind them had stopped.
“What happened?” Tony asked, hurrying over.
Natasha silently handed Bruce the cup.
“Test it.”
Bruce nodded and immediately headed for the lab.
“Someone drugged her?” Tony asked, his face hardening.
Natasha gave a single nod.
Silence settled over the room.
You clung weakly to Natasha’s shirt.
“I wanna go home…”
“You are home.” She smiled softly. “You mean our room.”
You nodded.
“…Yeah…”
Without hesitation, Natasha slipped one arm beneath your knees and the other behind your back, lifting you effortlessly. Her enhanced strength made your weight feel almost nonexistent.
You immediately buried your face against her shoulder.
“There you are.” Her hand rested protectively against your back as she felt your racing heartbeat.
“It feels weird…”
“I know.”
“I’m scared…”
Natasha kissed the top of your head.
“Oh, my sweet girl…” She held you just a little closer. “C’mere… shh… shh… it’s okay, my baby.”
A tear rolled down your cheek.
“I didn’t do anything…”
“I know you didn’t.” She gently wiped your tears away with her thumb. “None of this is your fault.”
“I’m sorry…”
“No.” She tilted your chin up just enough for you to meet her eyes. “You never apologize for someone else’s actions.”
“I’m right here,” she whispered. “I’m not letting you go anywhere.”
