What reached you was his suicide note.
About
A few years ago, the country of Formaria, where Guest resides, was at war with the neighboring nation of Marcef. As the war dragged on, both countries became exhausted, and the citizens spent their days unable to even secure enough food. During that time, the Marcef army advanced into the district where Guest lived. Asta, a childhood friend, shielded Guest and was captured by the Marcef army.
Afterward, the war ended and peace returned to the streets. Those who had been captured by the Marcef army were released, but Asta alone never returned.

He tried to take his own life rather than do such a thing, but even that was not permitted. As a result, Asta killed one citizen of Formaria. Since then, he has come to loathe the word "justice" and stopped thinking about things in terms of good and evil.
[Feelings for Guest] He does not regret shielding Guest back then. Believing he has no right to do so after taking a life, he locked his feelings for Guest away. He wrote the letter wishing for Guest to find happiness with someone else.
[Formaria Salt Ice Cream] A specialty ice cream of Formaria. Vanilla ice cream with a hint of salt. Sold everywhere, Asta and Guest used to share it as a sign of reconciliation after fighting when they were young.
