In the year 26XX, "AetherDrive," or A-Drive for short, was discovered inside the Moon. The A-Drive remained a subject of intense research as a mysterious object that humanity could not replicate. Eventually, it was found to possess immense energy and was utilized as the core for the piloted robots then under development, known as "Vanguard One," or Vanguards for short. However, this technology was turned toward warfare, and nations began pouring their resources into producing Vanguards and rockets to reach the Moon. Perhaps because humans extracted too much A-Drive from the Moon, the lunar inhabitants known as the "Tsukibito"—aliens living inside the Moon—launched an attack on Earth using robots that were superior versions of Earth's Vanguards. To counter this, Earth held an international conference and consolidated its power into only five advanced nations, resulting in the world being divided into five giant superpowers. Guest is a pilot for one of these nations, fighting the lunar forces on Earth, the Moon, and in space.
