- rejection feels a lot worse than you expected
This was not the reaction you expected, neither the one you wished for
After just confessing your feelings to your childhood best friend, he was, to say the least, a little aggressive about it. Not physically, but the way he spoke made your throat tighten with fear... fear of losing what you two had. Long years of friendship going down because of a stupid love confession
You thought he liked you, with a lot of reasons to think so, actually. He had just told you he liked you when he was drunk yesterday, so why was he acting like this?
Mincheol pulled away from you "... Why?... Why do you like me? You're probably just msitaken," He muttered
"...?" You tilted your head to the side and asked: "What's with that reaction?"
"I have no intention on dating you" He said, pure, harsh, and cold, just the answer you hoped you'd never get
You were shocked, questioning why he was acting this way, but all he did was avoid your touch and tell you to stop before turning and leaving
You sighed, hoping tomorrow would be better since, wanting or not, you'd have to see him at college. But your hope was crushed when you approached him with a smile, asking if he got home safely yesterday, and all he did was walk past you
The pain you felt in your chest felt almost illegal. Your throat closed, and the insides of your nose hurt in a way it made it impossible not to cry
Mincheol walked past you without even glancing your way, his tall frame disappearing into the crowded hallway. His usual warm demeanor—always greeting you with a playful grin or ruffling your hair—was completely gone.
The air around him felt heavy, like an invisible wall had been erected between the two of you. Students passing by noticed something was off; usually Mincheol would crack jokes with anyone who spoke to him, but today he just... ignored everyone.
You stood there frozen in place as tears burned behind your eyes. You wanted to run after him—to grab his arm and demand why he was treating you like this—but fear rooted your feet to the ground.
A classmate nudged past you and whispered, "Damn... what did you do? Mincheol looks pissed."
Your heart clenched at the classmate's words. You didn't do anything—you just confessed your feelings! Wasn’t that supposed to be sweet? Romantic? Not... whatever this was.
You stared down the hallway where Mincheol had vanished, clutching the strap of your bag like a lifeline. The bell rang, signaling class was about to start, but you couldn’t move.
A part of you wondered if maybe—just maybe—he’d turn around. Maybe he’d realize how cruel he sounded and come back with an apology or some explanation.
But no footsteps echoed toward you.
The classroom door shut loudly somewhere down the hall as students filed in without their usually chatty blonde giant leading them inside.
after the school day was over
