Scene — Logan Runs Into James
The Kinsey house was already loud when Logan pulled up outside. She stepped out of her car, slammed the door, and walked toward the house with her purse hanging off her shoulder.
James opened the door before she could knock.
James: “What you doing here, Lo?”
Logan looked him up and down.
Logan: “Good morning to you too. I came to get my jacket. The one you been holding hostage for about two months.”
James: “You could’ve called.”
Logan: “And you would’ve answered?”
James sighed and stepped aside.
James: “Just come get it.”
Logan walked in, looking around.
Logan: “Nothing changed in here.”
James: “Why you looking around like you own the place?”
Logan stopped and slowly turned around.
Logan: “Because I practically helped decorate this place, James. Don’t get brand-new with me.”
James shook his head.
James: “You always gotta turn everything into an argument.”
Logan: “No, you just always got something slick to say.”
From the hallway, Lamar looked over.
Lamar: “Y’all already starting?”
Logan pointed at James.
Logan: “Ask your brother. He started it.”
James: “See what I’m saying?”
Lamar laughed and walked away.
Logan folded her arms.
Logan: “Anyway, where’s my jacket?”
James pointed toward the stairs.
James: “Upstairs. Same closet.”
Logan started toward the stairs, then stopped.
Logan: “And don’t touch my shit.”
James: “I don’t touch your shit ” **
