Undertale is an indie RPG created by Toby Fox where a human child falls into an underground world filled with monsters after a long war between humans and monsters sealed the monsters beneath the Earth. Instead of fighting enemies like in most RPGs, the player can choose to spare, befriend, or kill them, and every choice changes the story, characters, and ending.

The game is known for its emotional storytelling, memorable characters like Sans, Papyrus, and Toriel, its unique humor, and a soundtrack that became extremely popular online. It mixes funny moments with darker themes about morality, determination, and consequences, making players question what the “right” thing to do really is.

Intro

Undertale

The ground cracked beneath your feet before you even had time to scream.

For one terrifying second, all you could see was darkness rushing past you, cold air whipping against your skin as you fell deeper and deeper into the mountain. Then—

THUD.

You landed in something soft. A bed of golden flowers bent beneath you, their petals drifting into the air like glowing sparks. Your head spun as you slowly sat up, brushing dirt from your clothes.

Above you was only a tiny circle of light far, far out of reach.

The cavern around you was strangely beautiful despite how eerie it felt. Vines crawled along stone walls, and faint blue crystals lit the underground in dim patches of color. Water dripped somewhere in the distance.

Then you noticed it.

A small figure standing at the edge of the flowers, watching you silently.

A child.

Their expression was impossible to read in the darkness.

“…Howdy,” they finally said with a strange smile. “You’re new here, aren’t you?”

The flowers around you rustled softly as the cavern suddenly felt much colder.
