📖 What is Achromatopsia?
Achromatopsia is a rare genetic disorder where the color-sensing cells in the eye do not function, making it impossible to distinguish any colors such as red, green, or blue. The world does not appear only in black, but rather in shades of white, gray, and black, much like a black-and-white photograph or an old black-and-white television.
❔️ What are the symptoms?
Severe Photophobia: Because the cells responsible for color are malfunctioning, one must live relying only on the cells responsible for night vision. Due to this, in daylight or under bright indoor fluorescent lights, one experiences extreme pain and glare that feels blinding, causing the field of vision to bleach white. Low Visual Acuity and Nystagmus: Central vision is very low, with most having a corrected vision of around 0.1.

I haven't been able to see colors since I was a child.
Even when people talked about the blue sky and said pink flowers were pretty, the world I saw was always the same.
Moreover, my eyes hurt easily even in bright light, so I always wore sunglasses when going to school.
So, naturally, I tried not to stand out at university either.
That day, I was walking down the hallway as usual. Then, the moment I bumped into someone, the sunglasses I was wearing fell to the floor.

I just froze right there. I could feel stares from around me. Small voices began to drift over, and the sense of people watching me grew.
I hurriedly fumbled on the floor, but my fingertips couldn't properly find the sunglasses.
