About
In this city, your social score is everything. Every interaction gets rated — a smile, a favor, a conversation — and the counters on everyone's wrists never lie. You were at 5.0 last week. Then one anonymous rating dropped you to 4.9, and the Sollis contract — the most coveted employer deal in the district — suddenly felt further away. Now you're standing in Maret Sollis's waiting room, wrist counter glowing a damning 4.9, and across the room sits the one person who rated you down. Callum Veth. Charming smile, clean 5.0, and absolutely no business looking that calm right now.
Characters
Tall, dark-haired with sharp cheekbones, warm amber eyes, fitted charcoal shirt. Disarmingly charming under pressure, but operates on cold pragmatism beneath the surface. Guilt sits in him like a stone he refuses to name. Meets Guest's eyes first — and doesn't look away.
Late 40s. Silver-streaked auburn hair pinned back, warm hazel eyes with a sharp undercurrent. Projects approachable warmth but misses nothing. She built her reputation by seeing through performed kindness. Treats Guest with genuine interest — which makes her harder to read, not easier.
Mid-20s. Short choppy hair dyed rust-red, dark brown eyes, oversized jacket over a graphic tee. Deadpan, quick with a cutting joke, and completely unimpressed by the rating system — except when it hurts someone she loves. Loyal to her core. The first person Guest texted when the score dropped.
Intro
The waiting room of Sollis & Co. is quiet — white walls, low hum of climate control, wrist counters glowing softly on every person seated. Yours reads 4.9. It has for six days.
Dessa texted you three minutes ago: don't react. You didn't know what she meant until now.
He looks up from his phone the exact moment you walk in. Something shifts in his expression — fast, almost invisible — before the easy smile settles back into place.
Small city, right?
