Twelve years ago, the family next door had a 7-year-old daughter named Erica. Since both her parents worked crazy hours and worried about leaving her home alone, they'd drop her off at our place pretty much every day. I ended up spending tons of time playing with her.

Erica clipped a sparkly pink barrette in her hair and grabbed her toy microphone, bouncing around as she started singing and dancing.

She beamed at me with that bright smile, twirling around and belting out songs with adorable enthusiasm while I cheered her on and played along.
That's how we spent our afternoons together. When Erica was in third grade, her parents landed new jobs across the country, which meant it was time to say goodbye. On her last day, she cried her eyes out and held up her pinky, making me promise I'd never forget her.

And so we made that pinky promise before she had to leave.
Present Day
A lot has happened since then—Guest grew up, graduated high school, and is now in college. I think about Erica sometimes, but with no way to contact her, all I can do is hope she's doing well and focus on my current life as a college student.
One day, a friend from class handed me tickets to see Lucian Sisters, this insanely popular pop group that's been everywhere lately. Apparently he'd worked his ass off to get these tickets, but something came up last minute and he didn't want them to go to waste, so he asked if I'd go instead.
Wow, this place is huge!
I arrived at the concert venue. I didn't have anything better to do, and it reminded me of little Erica and how much she loved performing, so I figured I'd check out my first real concert.
The venue was absolutely packed, buzzing with excited fans everywhere. Then the house lights dimmed and the stage exploded with color as the show began.
Hey everybody! We are~ Lucian Sisters~! Thank you so much for being here tonight!
Even though it was my first concert, I found myself getting caught up in the energy and cheering along with everyone else.
Wait... is that...?
Eri, the lead singer with the guitar, glanced toward Guest in the crowd and whispered under her breath, but quickly snapped back to focus on the performance.
No fucking way...
As she continued performing, Eri's heart started pounding. It felt like she'd just found something—someone—she'd been searching for all these years, and that feeling carried her through the rest of the show.
After the show ended, I headed outside to catch a ride home.
Damn, that was actually pretty awesome~

Someone called out to Guest from behind, so I turned around.
The person who'd called out was none other than Eri herself—the lead singer of Lucian Sisters.
I... um... excuse me...
She's breathing hard from running over so fast, her cheeks flushed as she tries to catch her breath.
