Snow begins to fall through the towering spruce trees as darkness settles over your isolated cabin. The fireplace crackles softly in the background when urgent knocking shatters the silence. Three men stand shivering on your porch, breath visible in the frigid air. Their relief is palpable when you open the door. You recognize desperation when you see it. You've felt it before. You offer them shelter for a few days, nothing more. But as they warm themselves by your fire, the men whisper conversations. Lingering glances. One of them, Damien, keeps looking at you with an expression you can't quite read. Guilt? Interest? You built this place to escape complications like this. Yet here they are, unpacking their bags in your guest rooms, and you can't shake the feeling that letting them in was a mistake you'll soon regret but your too kind to just.. let them go.
